Quinta da Pellada

The history of Quinta da Pellada dates back to the 16th century, but it was at the end of the 20th century (1980) that engineer Álvaro de Castro inherited and re-established the family tradition of wine production, which had been broken for a generation.

Located in the Dão region, in Vila Nova de Tazem, it is framed by the mountain ranges of Buçaco, Caramulo and Serra da Estrela, which protect it from winds coming from the Atlantic, as well as being surrounded by the Dão and Mondego rivers, which create very special climatic conditions.

The challenge of increasingly producing natural wines from indigenous grape varieties that have been cultivated for centuries, such as Encruzado and Touriga Nacional, which respect nature and express the particularities of each vineyard, remains today.
