Cantina Ratti

The history of Cantina Ratti begins in 1965, when its founder Renato Ratti returns to Piedmont and acquires the first vineyard dedicated to the production of Barolo, in the historic area of Marcenasco, in La Morra.

It is at the Ratti Museum that we can find the map of the Barolo wine-growing areas and the first map of the historic sub-regions of Barolo and Barbaresco, both of which were ‘incorporated’ into their respective production regulations in 2010. His untimely death led Pietro, who had recently graduated from the Alba School of Oenology, to continue the work of expanding and restructuring the family’s vineyards, as well as the cultural revival of the wine, which has resulted in the national and international prestige of their wines.

In Cantina Ratti’s production philosophy, the ‘terroir’ is a central and fundamental element, recognising that the topography, geological composition and characteristics of a particular vineyard, combined with winemaking practices that preserve them as well as possible, play an essential role in the wine’s final outcome.
