Tourinto Premium Wines was present at the launch of Quinta de San Michel's new wine, A Névoa de Janas 2020, a limited edition of 712 numbered bottles.
The launch of the new Quinta de San Michel wine took place at the Quinta in Janas, with a magnificent reception by hosts Joaquim Camilo and Alexandre Guedes, at an event that also gave everyone present the chance to taste the wines that will be launched in September 2024, Arinto and Curtimenta 2022.
Névoa de Janas 2020 is a 100% Arinto that will only be released in exceptional years, the result of a viticultural year in which the weather conditions were very favourable to the formation of condensation on the vines - mist - allowing the grapes to ripen for a long and constant period, while maintaining a naturally high acidity.
Mist is one of the factors that makes the microclimate of Sintra and Janas so unique and special. It occurs when air masses coming from the Atlantic Ocean and the north meet the Serra de Sintra and are forced upwards, causing condensation that makes for cool mornings and protects the grapes from exposure to the sun.
The 3-year ageing process that this wine has undergone puts it at an appreciable level of evolution, allowing it to be consumed immediately as well as the possibility of it evolving in the bottle.
The floral and fruity notes are surrounded by an exuberant Atlantic influence, as well as a delicate Hungarian oak barrel presence, in a combination of complexity, freshness, salinity and persistence.
