Catena Zapata is Argentina's most iconic producer, founded in 1902 by the Italian Nicola Catena and led today by Laura Zapata. Located in Mendonza, its vineyards, divided into several plots, are planted in the foothills of the Andes, between 950 and 1450 metres above sea level, where the continental climate and wide temperature range allow for long ripening.

Catena Zapata was responsible for carrying out the first major scientific clonal selection of the Malbec grape variety in Argentina, as well as for cultivating small plots on different soils and at different altitudes, with the aim of bringing out the most authentic expression of the terroir.
