Herdade da Maroteira
Herdade da Maroteira is located at the foot of the Serra D'Ossa, 35 kilometres north of Évora. Born in the mid-19th century when Robert Reynolds decided to invest in the Alentejo cork oak forest, it has been in the same family for five generations.
It was at the hands of Philip Mollet that the Syrah grape variety became the success of the estate, with the Cem and Mil Reis wines, and was expanded with the planting of Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Touriga Nacional and Viognier vines.
Planted on clay-limestone soils, the vineyards are tended sustainably and all the processes are carried out by hand, making it possible to get the most out of the Alentejo's terroir.
