Quinta da Furada

Quinta da Furada has been owned by the same family for at least seven generations and is probably home to the oldest vineyards in the upper Douro wine region. Resistant to the catastrophic devastation caused by phylloxera at the end of the 19th century, Quinta da Furada has an amazing history of resilience.

With a strong connection to and fascination with the Alto Douro Vinhateiro, the wines are produced with the deepest respect for the old ways, traditions that we maintain and follow religiously.

It was the effort, dedication and passion of its owner that made it possible to produce the fascinating Pata D'urso wines, whose history and tradition gave rise to the name of its wines.

Quinta da Furada

Until the 18th century, bears were hunted in the hills of Ventozello Novo, the name by which Quinta da Furada was described by the Baron ForresterThe tradition was to offer the paw to the Bishop of Lamego. This old tradition would later give the wines their name.
