Quinta do Vale Meão

It was at the end of the 19th century that D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira (a Ferreirinha) bought Quinta do Vale Meão, 300 hectares of virgin land in Vila Nova de Foz Côa.

However, the belief in the Douro Superior in order to produce superior quality Port wines was far from believing in the possibility of giving rise to Portugal's most renowned wine, Barca-Velha.

Later, in 1994, Francisco Javier de Olanzabal, his great-great-grandson, acquired Quinta do Vale Meão from his relatives, which would eventually give rise to F. Olanzabal & Filhos. Olanzabal & Filhos and the birth of a new era.
